SINGAPORE (Team Geared Up) - Team Geared Up will be interviewing the TV stars of Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch tomorrow. Brothers and co-captains of the ship Time Bandit, Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand will answer our TGU readers questions along with other bloggers on this exclusive call.

Ever seen Deadliest Catch? You may remember their dramatic rescue, last season, of a man who fell into the Bering Sea near where they were fishing. If not - tune in… crab fishing in the freezing conditions is more interesting and daring than you can imagine.

If you were on the phone to them, what would you ask? We’ll ask it for you!

So far via Twitter…

Ken Asks:
“When they’re not tackling the high seas, what type (or who) of music would they listen to to relax?”

Petie Asks:
“There really only is one question thouugh, are they insane???”

I’m asking:
“You built the boat yourselves, has the Time Bandit been modified for living in freezing conditions or travelling through ice?”
“What is the best food to eat fast during 24hr shifts?”
“Your ‘No pot left behind’ is admirable! - what about people, what was your nearest miss?”

TGU Neal Asks:
“do they like water or is it just work?”
“funniest moment?”
“Would they recommend the work to others?”

Leave your questions in the comments. We’ll make an MP3 download of the interview available afterwards.

LONDON, UK (Team Geared Up) - Rumour reached us last night via Stephen (DCU Rock Climbing Club) that Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear fame is to undertake a new stunt infront of a live audience at the MPH ‘07 show.

[Jeremy Clarkson] will be racing a rock climber up a 40-foot tall, man-made mountain in a Land Rover Discovery. The steel construction took over three months to build, and will pit Clarkson and the climber against the clock in an indoor arena.

The event will be taking place in two different locations, on November 1st through 4th in London’s Earls Court and 8th through 11th at Birmingham’s NEC.

Here’s what happened the last time they tried something similar (outdoors):

LONDON, UK (Team Geared Up) - Bear’s Grylls Blog has a wonderful comeback at the press for nay-saying his achievements and moaning that he stayed in a motel during a Natural Born Survivor episode.

Bear comes back to them with 3 letters posted on his blog, and little comment from himself. The Authors of the letters speak for themselves and are written a little tongue in cheek… ;-)

Here’s one:

Dear Sir/Madam

The Daily Mail’s attack on Bear Grylls mentions that he is ‘the cheese soufflé’ of the adventure world and, by way of pushing this assertion, suggests that he may not have been the youngest Brit to scale Everest, and implies that the T.A’s/21 SAS Regiment is not as tough as the Regular 22 SAS Regiment. I would comment that he was indeed the youngest Brit because the only possible rival claimant was clearly Australian. And that 21 SAS membership requires distinctly non-cheese soufflé people. Its comparison to 22 SAS is therefore irrelevant and cheap, suggestive journalism of a misleading nature.

Sir Ranulph Fiennes
(’World’s greatest living explorer’ Guinness book of Records)

Not bad!

Note: Bear uses Picasa web albums to store his photos. You can see Bear Grylls photo albums here.
