LONDON, UK (Team Geared Up) - Ireland has been awarded the right to host the 2009 European Cross Country Athletics Championships by the European Athletics Council. The event will be held at the Santry Demesne course in north Dublin on 13 December 2009. Thanks Darran via RTE.

Also, the 15th British and Irish Juniors mountain running races are being held in Wales this weekend.

LONDON, UK, (Team Geared Up) - This one wins all the prizes. Forget ascending Everest blind, as an amputee or even running the A-Z of Marathons, this is way cooler. Having tried to climb Mont Blanc myself (and getting white washed off in a snow storm) I have ultimate respect for them lobbing these gas cylinders up there.

These guys lugged a full jaccuzzi to the summit of Mont Blanc, re-constructed it, and then heated it at 4810m.

LONDON, UK (Team Geared Up) - We’ve just seen the results. Congratulations to our Aisling and the rest of the Irish Team at the European Mountain Running Championships. Aisling completed the 8.5km with 1010m ascent course in 1h12′41”.

It’s my first Europeans and of course I’m nervous. When I made the decision to try out for the Irish team I knew it meant one thing if I did make it: that I would miss out on the next attempt on the Wicklow Round.

I know I shouldn’t be complaining but it was a tough decision. Anyway I’ve gotten over it…..slightly. The second attempt was to be last Saturday but the forecast was for torrential rain which never materialised. So it was put off till this Saturday. Best of luck to Tony, Niall, Gary and Liam and the helpers Eugene and Finn. I’ve no doubt they’ll make it this time even if the weather is bad. But they won’t have their chief photographer and moblogger with them but hey…..she’ll be in France wishing them well…..

LONDON, UK (Team Geared Up) - It’s time to announce our very own TGU blogger ‘Aisling Coppinger‘ has been selected to race for Ireland at the European Mountain Running Championships at Cauterets in France next weekend (July 8th 2007).

We’re all immensely proud of her achievement and honored to have Aisling blogging as a key member of Team Geared Up. Aisling - thanks for all your hard efforts over the last few months and a serious bit of encouragement is going your way for the weekend!
