		<description>Barocci, the perspective doesn't show how steep the face they are on is. They go up diagonally to the left of where they are but the face they are on is more than 60 degrees of ice/snow. It is far from easy, couple that with being at 8000m of altitude where in each breath you only get 1/3 of the oxygen you get at sea level... go figure.</description>

Don't speculate too much about which way they went. I have no confirmation when the photo linked below was taken. But the route indicated is consistent with other descriptions from those who have been there. Once out of the couloir, there is apparently a traverse above the serac. No reason to get on the face you refer to.
