Irish and Welsh Mountain Running: International Snowdon Race

Written by aislingc

DUBLIN, IRELAND (Team Geared Up) I’m a little late getting to this one but hey, I have the excuse of ironman training to fall back on every time I’m slacking around here. ;-)
Big congrats to all of the Irish team that travelled to Snowdon in Wales for the annual 10 mile race up and down Snowdon mountain. The Irish men’s team included John Brooks, Brian Furey, Turlough Conway and Richie Healy on 26th July last. Race results here for the Irish! The senior women’s team pictured above is Tressan McCambridge, Aoife Joyce, Jacqueline O’Hagan, Rachel Walters and Niamh Ni Cholmain. Congrats to all, especially those in an Irish vest for their first time! That’s always an experience in itself and a super proud moment for them all I’m sure.

Jackie let us know how it went!! ;-)

Hi Ais,

Race was great I have to say! I really enjoyed it - don’t know if that means I wasn’t running hard enough but I guess it was the combination of weather, atmosphere, the fact I ran more than I thought possible (prob about 80%!).

Was great representing Ireland too - makes you feel very proud - even though you know you’re not going to win gold medals there is still something quite satisfying about flying the flag!

Well done to all the others who had great runs! Especially Aoife Joyce, John Brooks and Brian Furey who stormed the course! Would jump at the chance to do it again!
