Wicklow Round Attempt by Moire O’ Sullivan |

DUBLIN, IRELAND (Team Geared Up) Experienced adventure racer and mountain runner Moire O’ Sullivan is, at this very moment, making an attempt on the Wicklow Round: a long distance run encompassing 26 peaks totalling over 100K and over 6,000M climb inside 24 hours. According to the IMRA forum she was expected through the Wicklow gap at about 4:30pm this evening. Good on ya Moire, the weather is with ya, you have the experience and the drive and I only wish I could be out there to cheer you on!! Give it loads!
Previous Round stories of mine here and here. :-)
UPDATE: We went up to meet her at Sheepbanks Bridge. She went through there at 21:05 and was in really good form. She was very eager to keep moving quickly so the photos I took here are a bit rushed! She’s well on her way to being first woman, first under 24 hours and first solo! She’s an absolute hero!
UPDATE: I’m so gutted for her. According to Joe Lalor on the IMRA forum: “The adventure came to an end at 12.00 at the service road on the military road. After a very difficult descent from Tonduff in the dark Moire decided to call it a day. Well done on a gallant solo attempt which so nearly made it.” I can totally understand how she must be feeling but I reckon she’ll be back to do it again. Well done Moire!
