Questions for Tomorrow’s Podcast

Written by admin

CHICAGO, UNITED STATES (Team Geared Up) - Tomorrow I’m interviewing Simon and Fearghal from revolutioncycle.ie . They are aiming to be the first Irish people to circumnavigate the earth by bicycle.

This November, Simon Evans and Fearghal O’Nuallain will begin the first Irish circumnavigation of the globe by bicycle. Their unsupported expedition will cover over 30,000km, passing through 30 countries and some of the highest, lowest, driest, coldest, warmest and loneliest places on earth.

I want your questions… what would you like me to ask them about? So far I’ve got…

  • Their training programme.
  • Communications plans.
  • What bike trailers are like.
  • Security worries.

Add yours in the comments by 1600hrs (GMT) Friday and I’ll be sure to ask them…

-Robin.

I am sorry this will not be the first Irish circumnavigation of the globe by bicycle. Michael O’Connor from Glenageary and Raheny did it in the late 1970’s! On August the 20th this year it will be the 30th anniversary of the start of my own bicycle trip around the world (15 months). I have given advice to many who were setting out on similar trips and have heard of many over the years but can’t remember their names! Best wishes to Fearghal and Simon. Tony Mangan.

Drawing our attention to Micheal O’Connor and your round the world cycle, Tony.

Both sound like epic adventures and truly impressive feats. Made all the more impressive by the fact that they were in the days before satellite phones, atm’s and the internet!

We’re currently updating our route page. And will be including a piece on previous Irish cycles.

For more on our expedition, and the strict criteria for a “land based, human powered, unsupported circumnavigation of the globe”, as stipulated by Guinness World Records and Adventure Stats, that we’ll be following see;
