Want to join Cracknell and Fogle on their South Pole Challenge?

DUBLIN, IRELAND (Team Geared Up) They’ve rowed across the Atlantic naked, now they’re planning an expedition to the South Pole in the footsteps of Robert Scott’s trek to the South Pole in 1912. I’d imagine they’re planning on wearing clothes this time though….They’re looking for a third member to join their team on the inaugural South Pole Race.

As long-standing Telegraph readers, the two decided on an unconventional method of choosing the third person they need with them, in order to abide by the competition’s rules - they are advertising in this newspaper, inviting people all over Britain to put their names forward.
The move was as much a nod to Shackleton (who famously placed a newspaper advertisement when trying to recruit a team for his first expedition to Antarctica which began, “Men wanted for hazardous journey…”) as born of the belief that it would yield the best candidate.

So if you reckon you’re up for the challenge here’s the deal:

HOW TO JOIN CRACKNELL AND FOGLE ON THEIR SOUTH POLE CHALLENGE
To be eligible, you must:
Show the commitment to challenge yourself outside of your normal job
Speak your mind, stand up for what you believe in, be respectful of other people’s opinions and have a sense of humour
Be physically fit
Be old enough to cope with and understand the challenge, but young enough to take on a mammoth expedition
Be available for the selection process and training on July 6, 7, 10, 18, 19, 20, 21 and available for regular training from September until the race, which runs from mid-December 2008 to the end of January 2009.
To apply go to telegraph.co.uk/southpole

I read about this first over at Tabula Rasa.

Ah, not sure I could make all the training. Christmas Day is at my wife’s folks’ house this year, and I just don’t think I could nip off for a couple of hours.
