Irish on K2 2008 |
DUBLIN, IRELAND (Geared Up Blog) - Gerard McDonnell is going back to K2 this year as part of a Dutch expedition to climb the formidable mountain. I’m not sure is he part of their team or just with the expedition so that he can attain his climbing permit. The expedition website is here though just beware it is mostly in Dutch so i can’t really understand a whole lot of what is going on.

Gerard is a full member of the Norit K2 Expedition team. Wilco van Rooijen (the expeditionleader) and Gerard met and climbed together in 2006.
The expedition website (www.noritk2.nl) keeps you updated evry day with stories and pictures. Every message always ends with an English summary. Log entries written by Gerard McDonnell or Mark Sheen are published “as-is”

Gerard put the team together with Wilco over the last couple of years. It’s an International Expedition - Nepali, Aussie, Irish and Dutch. Also check out http://www.phiodyssey.com for some extra updates in english (although I think it’s meant to be a low profile site primarily for family and friends).
