Wildcamping: I can’t believe it’s not legal!

SINGAPORE (Team Geared Up) - Bearded Git (BG) emailed me looking for ‘airtime’ for the Legalise Wild Camping in Wales & England campaign - just like they can in Scotland.

They are looking to gather as many signatories as possible from UK Residents or Expats on the 10 Downing Street website petition. Sign it if you agree (and can).

There are lots of possibles they are looking at:

A card or licence system (like a rod licence for angling) has been proposed in some quarters. I think this has some merit and is worth examination.

Those that enjoy the rights of access should see this as a privilege rather than an inviolable right to used however they deem fit. After all it is someone else’s land! The concept of a privilege that can be withdrawn if certain codes of behaviour cannot be adhered to seems to me to be a good way forward.

BG has got lots of opinions on his blog too.

I welcome debate in the comments section - hopefully BG or John will chip in too.

Looks like BG was in the area of the UK that felt the earthquake!

I was following it live on Twitter as it played out..

Robin, many thanks for helping to spread the word, and for signing up.

We’re welcoming all points of view and realise that, while a lot of folk have signed up, there are others who aren’t willing to support of the petition. We’re trying to get debate centralised at http://www.legalisewildcamping.com/ so that everybody can have their say there, but we’re happy to natter away on the forums too.

Aisling, yes, the earth did move for me last night!

:-)

Ooer, I’m logged in but my comments are showing as “Anonymous”.

For the record, it should be BG (as if you didn’t know).

But BG, what about the Earthquake? Keep it on topic, yeh…?

@ BG very odd.

Try changing your full name in your profile and saving it.

Just testin’

Ah, that’s better. Good advice, Robin. Thanks.

So…

any questions?

(about the wildcamping thing, not the earthquake!)

Sod the earthquake, more about the earth moving!
;-)

Hi Robin and fellow forum folk

Like here glad to acknowledge the mention and happy to help clarify wherever we can

Earthquake - call that an earthquake!
;-)

Any more takers?

(… he asks, in a grovelling manner…)

Thanks for the offer of a lifetime, Brown Raphel, but I much prefer my own company. Besides, my dehydrated meals are more palatable than your spam.
Bye now.
