I'd be happy to try one out as a demo if Petzl wants a runner review. I'd return it eventually after several "evaluation runs" over a two to three year period. ;-)

The price includes the rechargeable battery and charger. Unbelievable coverage - the choice for fast skiers, cyclists & runners at night - for the serious athlete this bit of kit will improve your performance.

I ran with one of these on the gnarliest sections of the Wasatch 100 course in Utah, USA. The low setting was better than ok for most sections and it was like running with the sun on your head when set to high. It made nasty trail MUCH more runnable. Light night and day... literally.

considering how much I abuse my torches, there is NO way I'm paying $499 for a torch!
Anyway, the way technology is going at present, this will be out of date next week as a fancier LED is released, and by the summer, Lidl or Aldi will be selling a generic model for €20 ;)

I have two 16 year old Zooms.
Apart from the dodgey elastic they work fine.
Big plus is that I can take them apart and re-assemble them in the dark...

What does it do for the $499? That seems excessive for a torch.

Seems a bit pricey but it would probably be like running with the sun stuck to your head.

I guess I'll just keep using my two $40.00 petzl lamps with one on my head and one as a waist lamp for my night trail running events. The combination give you a very good field of vision for those sneaky roots and rocks that like to trip us up.
