Irish Running in Trail Blanch Font Romeu 2008 |

DUBLIN, IRELAND (Team Geared Up) About 15 Irish mountain runners are travelling to the French Pyrennees today to take part in the Trail Blanch Font Romeu. It’s the third time round for me and this year there’s 3 distances on offer in this Pyrenness mountain race: 13k, 24k and the ultra 51k. Best of luck to Grainne and Irish Adventure Racer Paul Mahon who are the only brave souls doing the Ultra this year. Last year it was savage! Tonnes of ice and even a rope section! Let’s hope this year there’ll be lots of snow and less treachery! I’m sticking to the short event this time.
Those lining up in the short one with me are: Tara Whyte, Eugene Coppinger and Greg Byrne. Those entered for the 23k are: Bronagh Ni Bhriain, Jackie O’ Hagan, Karen Duggan, Liam O’ Riain and Rob Cummins (have I left anyone out?) Let’s hope the medal tally is as good as last year!
