Fort William UK Slacklining Masters

Written by nealmcq

I received an email from Claire MacLeod to let me know about the inaugural Slacklining Masters, which will be held in Fort William, Scotland, “will be kicking off at 12pm on Saturday 23rd February at the Lochaber Leisure Leisure Centre playing fields with the Grand Final at 4pm.” Dust off your slacklines, tie them off to some trees, and get practicing!
It’s being held as part of the Fort William Mountain Festival (running from 14th - 23rd February) which seems to have a pile of events running throughout the week.

Entry is free, and the “entry forms are now available to download here ” (Warning: pdf)

“The cash prizes for the comp are now totaling a whopping two grand.
UK Champion = £500
UK 2nd place = £300
UK 3rd place = £200
International Champion = £500
International 2nd place = £300
International 3rd place = £200″
Check out Claire’s post here and I’m sure you’ll want to subscribe to keep an eye out for more updates.

cool! that would be a great sight to go watch.

are they at any height for the finals?

Yeah, hopefully they post some footage from it.

No idea on the height of it, don’t think those sort of details have been released yet!

There will be footage off it on the net, for sure. Why don’t you come along and see it in real time though? :)

The comp line will be set at about 1m but there are loads of competitors coming up for a good few days so there will be plenty of highlining going on, just not officially!

Wow, sounds great Claire. I’m in Singapore at the moment, Neals a bit closer in Ireland….. but I’m sure it would be spectacular to watch. Maybe we can send someone in our place with a camera!

Anyone out there in Scotland who’d take some pics and a report for TGU??

I’ve actually got it in my calendar so you never know :)
Haven’t slacklined in months and months and was never great anyway but was thinking it might make for good footage! Will see if I can get a cheap flight or not and working by then.
