Irish Running: Racing over the Hols!

DUBLIN, IRELAND (Team Geared Up) If you’re planning you’re Christmas running events now, then here’s a place to start! Every year on St. Stephen’s Day (Boxing day) there’s a 10k hosted by Navan AC that I’ve ran a couple of times. It’s a fast course and for the day that’s in it, it’s great for blowing the cobwebs off that formed the day before! It’s always well attended so you’ll find a challenge there.

The Paddy Hyland Memorial 10K Road Race takes places on St. Stephen’s Day 26th December 2007 at Claremont Stadium, Navan. The race commences at 12.00 Noon with entries taken from 11am. Entry fee is 10 euro. The Overall Prize Fund this year is 1,500.00 euro.

On the 27th, IMRA hosts the Charles Barrington Memorial Race. The website says it’s only about 6k with a 429m climb so the pain shouldn’t last too long!

The Business Houses Athletics Association is hosting a cross country in Tymon park, Tallaght on the 5th of January, 2 miles for women, 4 miles for men. They have a 10k in Marlay Park, South Dublin next Sunday 16th if you fancy stretching your legs (and aren’t running the National Novice Cross Country in Waterford). About this Sunday’s race in Marlay Park which starts at 10am:

This incorporates the Circle of Life fun run to support Barnardo’s and Friends of the Elderly. Registration (from 09.00) will be at Ballinteer St. John’s G.A.A. club on Grange Road, Ballinteer - just outside the wall of the park. Refreshments afterwards in Marlay House. This promises to be a traffic-free, safe road race - two laps within the park.

The least I’ll be doing is supporting a local GOAL mile event! They’re held every Christmas day and are always great fun, bring the kids, they’ll be sick of their toys by then. Full listing here of where they’re being held.
For any more events check out Run Ireland’s calender. If you have an event you’d like us to blog about then leave a comment!

It says there’s a gear check, sounds serious Mark! Seriously good luck, let us know how it goes. Mournes sounds great!

that beard in the middle at the front is definitely a fake.

that’s not nice……she may just have a hormone problem…..

We did the BURKE OIL ‘Streets of Wicklow’ 5Km on Stephen’s day last year…. good course, great turnout and some good competition! Worth a look if you can make it!
