Paula Radcliffe to Run ING New York Marathon |
DUBLIN, IRELAND (Team Geared Up) According to Marathon Guide Paula Radcliffe is to run this year’s ING New York City Marathon.
“Paula is a living legend and the greatest woman marathoner,” race director Mary Wittenberg said. “Hers is the most highly anticipated return to the marathon, after a two-year absence and a mere eight months after the birth of her daughter. She could have chosen an easier path, but in typical Paula fashion, she has chosen to return to compete in one of the deepest and most competitive women’s fields ever assembled. We have come to expect no less.”
She hasn’t ran a marathon in 2 years and is choosing a very tough course for her comeback marathon. This is also the marathon she won in 2004 (the year I ran it and met her the next day in Central Park on the finish line!!!) The field for New York this year is full of running heavyweights, compared to Chicago this Sunday where the field is much lighter?!
The date for New York is November 4th. I can’t wait to watch this, I hope the BBC televise it!
