Steve Fossett Rescue: Is this his plane?

Written by admin

LONDON, UK (Team Geared Up) - A TGU reader Robert Poli has commented on the Steve Fossett search post to say he’s found something in Google Earth.

Look at coordinates:
N38* 50′ 04″
W118*52′45.37″
small, white, right angle image on mountainside.

A quick check of the coordinates ourselves and we’ve uploaded the screenshot above. Yes it does look like something, but it appears me that it lies outside of the updated images given by Amazon Mechanical Turk. This in my mind means it’s on an old image, and probably taken before last week.

Robert, to play safe, have you relayed these coordinates to the authorities? Can our readers shed any more light on this object?

Agreed, outside new image area. Also, look at old images from Google Maps, Terra Server etc. and see if it is there.

Here’s one that is a “new” object since June 2006 but too big for his plane.

38°51′18.81″N
119°19′26.59″W

I think I have found a clear plane-shape object not far from where fossett took off. Unfortunately I discovered in in Google Earth and not that crappy turk thing, so I can’t report it. Take a look at the following coordinates:

38°41′54.37″N
119° 2′14.29″W

People the google Sat images are not realtime. They are
old images. They don’t update the very often.

JC, they are not old. They are a special download of recent satallite images. You upload it right into Google earth.

Did you think we were IDIOTS!?

:-)

@Brad - you are correct.
