Written by aislingc

DUBLIN, IRELAND (Team Geared Up) Those hoping to make the Irish mountain running teams for the WMRA World Trophy will be heading to Trooperstown Co. Wicklow for the Irish trial race this Sunday. It’s 12k for the senior men, 8k for the senior women and junior men.
Vets John Lenihan and Robin Bryson are expected to run and the Evening Herald has mountain biker Jenny McAuley tipped as favourite in the womens. It is also the “inaugural national senior inter-counties championship in mountain running ” so I might just wear two shades of blue for the day that’s in it!
Athletics Ireland have a posting here. The World Trophy itself will be held in Ovronnaz, Switzerland on 15th September.

Hi Aisling,

Huge congrats on yet another amazing performance at the trial! You’ve really had a brillant season altogether… go do Ireland proud in Switzerland!

Thanks Moire, I was so worried about Tony in Mont Blanc I didn’t think about the race at all. It’s up to the selectors now (as opposed to automatic selection of first 4 ladies).

The race itself was much tougher than it looked (I’ve rarely seen so many people drop out of a short mountain race) but it was hot too and that makes it harder.

Are you doing Gael Force? Who are you doing it with?

Aisling - I heard rumour you’ve been selected?
