ZURICH, SWITZERLAND (Team Geared Up) - If you wish you could snowboard all year but can’t, check out the board, that truly needs its own category in board sports, that San Francisco based Freebord Manufacturing has developed. Though hard to learn (like learning to snowboard all over again but on pavement), once you get it down, the Freebord easily provides the closest ride to a snowboard when you can’t get on the snow.
Trying to explain how the patented truck system on a Freebord works is nearly impossible. But watch one of the videos on their website and you’ll swear you’re watching someone snowboard on pavement.
Position your weight over the board’s edges and you can carve turns. Shift weight onto the base and you can slide. So once you get it dialed, you end up with a board that rides just like a snowboard allowing you to edge in for carves, drift a 180 into switch, slide to control speed or come to a complete stop. This is easily one of the craziest looking boards around with four standard but very outstretched wheels on the front and back and then two shopping cart style wheels underneath. If you are a snowboarder, take a look at this video, you will instantly be hooked. I am determined to try out this board and tell you guys about it. This looks to be the ultimate urban adrenaline junkies dream.

A very clever design!!! I like it. So when you’re upright you are on the trolley wheels and can slide - when you’re on the edge you’re on fixed wheels giving direction. Great idea. I really want one now!
Great find. It would be good to get a review sample in.
I picked up one of these on eBay a while back but the problem is finding a large enough paved and inclinded area to practise on! I live in Dublin city-centre, any ideas?
Hi Shane - how wide & big do you need? I can think of a few good hills in Howth to try it on.
Dude Shane yeah! Howth is perfect there is a road that goes from Howth Summit all they way down to Sutton that would be a perfect ride, not to steep but enough to get some good speed.
I was thinking a good practice spot would be the smooth tarmac between the summit carpark & the Summit Inn.
Where can i buy this online?
