CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND (Team Geared Up) - After our recent link to Dave MacLeod’s write-up on his own thoughts on his new route, To Hell and Back, and all the problems that became associated with it, PosingProductions, one of the camera teams (and producers of the amazing E11 movie and friends of Dave, has written up his own account of what happened on the day.
How about being asked by a friend “for an evaluation of how wet the hold was? What a damn question to ask……What do I know? I couldn’t do that move even if it was bone dry. I gave him the thumbs up, and he set off.”
And as he passed the point of “….possible retreat he let out a huge scream, a ‘power scream’ is the term. But Dave never does that. It was ominous…..”
In short, “It will broadcast on BBC sometime before Christmas. I will be fascinating, but don’t expect to ‘enjoy’ it.” Gulp.
All in all, a harrowing account of something that will probably look entirely normal on TV, but sounds like it could’ve been a disaster on the day (and for Dave).
