Simon Carter’s Australian Photography

Written by nealmcq

NOWRA, NSW, AUSTRALIA (Team Geared Up) - Since I’ve been reminded about this gallery by 8a.nu’s news article promoting it, and considering I’m in Australia at the moment, I may as well do my bit to show off Simon Carter’s work. You can find his photo slideshow here. Be warned, you’ll probably give up 15 minutes of your life just scrolling and drooling on the photos.

Basically, this guy is up there with the best for truly amazing photography. For anyone who saw Climbing magazine’s recent photo annual (and after meeting him at this year’s Australian Climbing Festival), it’s also impressive to see that he’s still using slide film for most of his best photos! He doesn’t completely disregard digital, but finds there’s more freedom with film. Interesting thoughts.

He’s also produced this book early this year, really impressive for having sitting on your table to distract you on those rainy days….. Linked here to Amazon

It was well worth the 15 minutes, loved the photos. And as for drooling I’m afraid I nearly brought up my breakfast looking at how scary some of those shots were!
