Congrats to Rogaine Winners 2007!

Written by aislingc

DUBLIN, IRELAND (Team Geared Up) I needn’t have worried too much. The weather wasn’t too bad according to the winners of Saturdays Rogaine 2007, Andrew Mc Carthy and Irish AR Team member Moire O’ Sullivan. According to Moire:

We had some big showers and mist on Saturday afternoon around Arts Lough. During the night’s section we were in Glenmalure valley and up Fannaneirin mountain and there was no rain at all and visibility was fine. Back at the race HQ down in Aughavannagh it apparently has some serious rain, so it just shows how localised the weather can be down there.

Because of their level of experience I doubt bad weather would have phased these two anyway. Sounds to me like although this is a fresh pairing, it’s a very successful one and teamwork played the largest part in their success. I reckon us budding adventure racers could learn a lot from them. Andrew says of the partnership:

It was definitely a team win, between pushing me so hard up hills that my heart rate monitor was beeping like mad to making very good calls quickly when we had decisions to make and as for that amazing energy boost she got late yesterday morning when we were running around getting the last controls, she was a great partner.

I will update this blogpost when full results are posted. UPDATE: Results here!
