New S61 Rescue Helicopter on Route to Ireland |
Thanks to Diverman for this tip-off. An S61N in Norway has now departed for its new base in Ireland, being noted en route yesterday refuelling at Aberdeen.
We reported on this new full AWSAR (All Weather Search & Rescue) for Ireland back in February.
Latest update is:
As part of this new contract, the whole of the CHC Ireland S61N fleet will be going through a repaint, which will see “a lot more red and a lot less white” and it is understood that the subject S61 will be the first in that scheme.
Full story by Rotorhub.com. I look forward to welcoming the new “Rescue Helicopter GOLF CHARLIE ECHO”!

Latest Comments (2):
which of the current aircraft will this s61 be replacing?
I believe it is replacing the spare LIMSAR (Limited SAR capability) that is used to replace whichever of the other S61N’s are undergoing standard maintenance. This will mean Ireland is fully AWSAR (All Weather SAR).
Previously CHC got a fine every time a LIMSAR was covering for a AWSAR.
