MTBGuru.com: Share Your Routes |
Rowan sent me on a link to MTBGuru, the work of a friend of his at PARC (Palo Alto Research Centre). This site is for Runners, Mountain Bikers, Road Cyclists, Hikers, Skiers & Mountaineers!
You could consider the MTBGuru website as a worldwide directory of outdoor trips or rides; you can create your own trips and/or browse existing ones. A trip has its own page associated to it and contains all kinds of information on that trip, such as distance, elevation gain etcetera. It will be drawn as a track on a map. Photos taken during the trip can be uploaded and are automatically attached to the point on the map where they were shot.
MTBGuru is a nice implementation of a Google Maps mashup to upload your GPS log files and view them online, share them, and add route photos, video & audio and exporting it all to Google Earth. This is the best implementation like this I’ve seen. Hopefully Eoin O’D will upload our Howth runs from his Garmin Foretrex 305! Thanks for the tip-off Rowan!

Now I tend to be twirling my hair, chewing gum, with a glazed look on my face when my husband says things like:
“What I need is someway of storing executable file for use with http://www.o-ware.com orienteering route player files .
the problem is that some executable files are viruses and most free online blogs or data storage sites wont let you store them.”
Huh?
But this would seem like an answer to that right? (I won’t find ‘mashup’ in a dictionary will i?)
Yours in confusion………..
maybe - but why is the file executable?
“Mashup” means combining services from diff providers into one service.
the files could be eggs scrambled for all I’d know Robin……………(hence the hair twirling, glazed look etc.)
Sure I can’t even get smiley faces to work in my comments :-(
