Gmaps Pedometer |
WHISTLER, BC (Geared Up Blog) - Google Engineer Matt Cutts has written a post about a site with a mash-up for Google Maps. Gmaps Pedometer.
You just click to mark out where you walked and it will give you:
- how far you walked
- the change in elevation
- how many calories you burned
There is no registration required to use it or save your routes. I gave it a whirl to check it out.
Route #1: My walk to work along the village trail here in Whistler. A 3.7Km walk burning 270 calories.
Route #2: The Cheesery Hike. One of my favourite little hikes in Kandersteg. 9.4Km round trip burning 684 calories. The Elevation was a bit off and it was hard to see the route some of the time, but it worked in the end. I don’t think it takes into account elevation when calculating calories.
What’s your favourite walk?

Ireland
Scotland
Wales
England
France
Switzerland
Italy
USA

The KISC imagery is great!
Atb the moment the village here is pretty spring looking… not much snow anywhere, but yeah, in winter it was covered!
