Adventure Race & Some Dates |
DUBLIN, IRELAND (Team Geared Up) Well we did it! Our first Adventure Race was yesterday and it was great! Held in Avon Ri Blessington and including both ‘Experts’ and ‘Sports’ class, the day was a resounding success for organisers Sean Murray and Brian Keogh.
Here’s how it went for us: In choppy waters on Blessington Lake we got all 5 controls and headed for the bike and run sections. Deciding to leave out 2 of the bike and 2 of the run controls, we got all 10 controls we set out for and came back happy and exhilerated. We worked brilliantly as a team, we looked after other, had a great navigator, gave it socks up and down all the hills and most of all, enjoyed the day and laughed our heads off at each other! Not bad for a bunch of beginners! The party afterwards was also a 40th birthday celebration for organiser Sean (including great live band and kissogram) and went on into the small hours! (too many exclamation marks, sorry…….but it was a great day!)

My team-mates Tony, Krissy and Karen
Experts Class was won by Irish AR Team Denny of Paul Mahon, Roisin O’ Donnell, Eoin Keith and Vanessa Lawrenson.
If you’re thinking of giving Adevnture Racing a go here are some upcoming events to think about, and Outsider is always a good reference for what’s coming up too.

Cheers Rowan!!
Yeah, much talk about Gaelforce 12 there at the Beast of Ballyhoura after-race party over the weekend… Irish AR Denny will be entering as well as Berghaus. There was talk from Jill Watson that 2 teams are coming over England. Its a great staged race over 3 days in a beautiful part of the country. The 1 day GF6 also sounds like its going to be tight with some big names entering… there’ll be some serious racing going on that weekend!
