Running: Aisling’s Blog Page |
LONDON, UK (Team Geared Up) - Congratulations go out to G’UP blogger Eoin who’s got a place in the Jungfrau Marathon a run with an altitude gain of 2000m! ouch!
His post attracted a comment from Aisling, who’s also doing the race, of Aislings Blog Page who also runs a blog for her group of runners Wednesday Night Runners. Go have a look.
Aisling says:
I’ve loved running in the Connemara Ultra for the last two years and will do so again next month. Highlights for me have to include finishing the Ultra Trail Tour du Mont Blanc with my husband Tony and completing my first marathon.
Using a blog as your training diary is becoming quiet a novel thing to do. I’m temped to build something to tie them al together. (See traineo.com if you haven’t)
Note to Aisling RE: question about accommodation, Interlaken is big enough that you’d want to be in a central part - There’s Interlaken East & West.

Ireland
Scotland
Wales
England
France
Switzerland
Italy
USA

Thanks for the tip re: hotels. I got a map and lots of other info at the weekend from someone who had run it before so will be studying them. The race numbers on the day will have your name and flag of your country on them, which I think is a nice touch!
He also said the best way from airport to Interlaken is by train. There are express ones with possibly one changover.
Thanks for the post above. I started my blog just to keep a personal record of anything at all, running or otherwise. I started the other blog when a group of us began planning to do some adventurous running together. It seemed like an ideal way to record the experience for ourselves and also with anyone who may be thinking about it. Team Geared Up is a big inspiration!
Aisling - I have mailed you directly :-)
Btw - yes trains in Switzerland are the way to go. You can get direct from geneva & Zurich to Interlaken I’m sure.
http://www.sbb.ch/en/ is very good.
