Fake?: Mountain Bikers on Cliffs of Moher

Written by admin

LONDON, UK (Team Geared Up) - There has been lots of comments on my post about Extreme Mountain Biking the Cliffs of Moher. Much debate both online & offline - should they have put themselves at such risk, what if they fell? Who picks up the pieces at the bottom?

The most worrying thing to me is - I’ve been contacted a number of times by mountain bikers now inspired by the photos to visit Ireland, and… “I want to do the cliffs of Moher route, can you send information?”.

The other side of the debate circles around faking it. Most people think that it’s been faked or photoshopped as they don’t believe it:

Pic 3.. Camera flash fired…. no shadows!
Also… pic 3 travelling right to left. Pic 4 travelling left to right. Don’t imagine there’s a U turn, overtaking lane or roundabout built into the Cliffs of Moher!

and

Funny that all the photos are right beside the carpark. It looks staged to me. What are the helmets for? Parachutes would be more useful.

So to put all this to bed (I thought I already did this here) I found the video of them doing it - and I doubt they’re faking this bit. See the video embedded above or go to this YouTube Video, at 1 min 5 secs you’ll get a couple of clips from the Moher route.

It is real!

Latest Comments (2):

It’s Hans Rey and Steve Peat. One of the best trials riders in the world and a downhill champion. It’s real. No doubt.

Once you have been there and have looked over the edge, you will see the yellow lime stone plateaus….. So it is definitely real. Would love to do this one day
