Road Trip: Team Geared Up Go Skiing! |
LONDON (Geared Up Blog) - I leave at 7.20am to meet fellow Geared Up Blogger Eoin in Grenoble airport for our week in Alpe D’Huez , French Alps. We’re off skiing with 4 other Team Geared Up supporters… :-) No doubt there will be some photos and video in our Geared Up Your Tube Group on our return.
A big thanks goes out to our New York blogger ‘Alx’ for offering to keep the show on road here while we go to get our bi-annual altitude fix. Alx is currently working on some fantastic new Team Geared Up ‘new media’ features coming Q1 ‘07.
Meanwhile, thankfully our resort is high, but things are looking grim for lower European resorts. Reuters are reporting: Europe’s ski business faces meltdown.
Banks in Switzerland are already refusing to lend money to ski outfits below an altitude of 1500 metres, said Shardul Agrawala, an official conducting a two-year OECD investigation into the threat from rising temperatures.
It doesn’t get any better: “Alpine resorts are experiencing the warmest weather in 1,300 years, according to one climatologist.”
