Climber 2 (Robin) ready to descend

LONDON (Geared Up Blog) - RTE News are reporting of a fatal 600ft fall by two members of the public. Their bodies were recovered at 4pm by the Shannon based Sikorsky and Doolin Coastguard.

The bodies of a woman and a young boy have been recovered from the sea at the Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare. The two had bought tickets for the daily tour to the Cliffs at an outlet in Eyre Square earlier today.

We have no information of their relation, but we’re speculating (update: mother & child confirmed) it was the boy’s mother as Breaking News.ie are reporting the following…

The woman and child, thought to be around five years old, were spotted in the water north of O’Brien’s Tower at 3.20pm.

Doolin Coastguard and the rescue helicopter from Shannon scrambled to the scene.

“The helicopter and boat arrived roughly at the same time, and the helicopter directed the coastguard boat to the causalities,” said John Falvey, from Valencia coastguard.

Very sad situation. We’ll post updates as they come. Maybe this will give these mountain bikers something to think about. More on Cliffs of Moher Rescue’s

UPDATE: Both were from cork, and it is confirmed it was mother and child. Mattie Shannon from Doolin Coast Guard gives a good interview on RTE News.
