Gore-tex Soft Shell |

DUBLIN (Geared Up Blog) - I’m really confused with this new fabric. I always thought that the definition of a soft shell was a garment with a fabric such as pertex which is more breathable than gore-tex but it doesnt offer you a fully waterproof shell. As you can see from above it has that membrane so therefore it ain’t a Soft Shell!
The words soft shell basically meant ’this isn’t waterproof but you won’t get wet when it’s dry, but you may get damp in it when it’s wet.’
And now i come to my problem. The North Face have a new jacket out saying Gore-tex softshell on it. Which it clearly isnt as if it was a SoftShell then it wouldn’t be waterproof.
The only durable waterproof soft shell with the GORE-TEX Guaranteed To Keep You Dry promise. GORE-TEX Soft Shell garments offer rugged 3-layer waterproof, windproof and breathable protection with a softer, more comfortable feel.
So why are they trying to fool us into thinking its a softshell when it clearly isnt and it won’t perform as well as a softshell can either. It seems to me to be just a new type of their Gore-tex paclite range. I just dont get why they are trying to fool us pretty unconvincingly…
