LONDON (Reuters) - Rescuers scouring the North Sea for a Scottish fishing boat and its four-man crew said they had found the vessel’s distress beacon and an empty life raft on Friday.
The Fife-registered trawler Meridian sent out a distress call at 10 p.m. on Thursday night in storm force 10 conditions from a location 160 miles east of Aberdeen in Norwegian waters.
RAF Kinloss sent out a Nimrod Search and Rescue aircraft and a Sea King helicopter on Thursday night. Another Sea King joined the search on Friday morning.
