Offshore Helicopter Rescue Attempt |
On RTE this morning:
An attempt to airlift an injured crewman from a Spanish fishing vessel 225km west of Mizen Head had to be abandoned overnight because of bad weather.
Poor conditions forced the Shannon-based marine rescue helicopter to turn back. An RAF Nimrod reconnaissance aircraft had been assisting.
The Spanish boat is currently sailing towards the port of Castletownbere in Co Cork.
It is understood the crewman had sustained head injuries.
