Petzl Lamps - MYO - MYO XP |

Petzl Lamps - MYO - MYO XP: “Provides a powerful, even and adjustable white light, with long light duration. A single light source for multiple uses.”
The more I look at the MYO the more I think I’ll get one. It seems to have hit the nail on the head. I’ve been looking the MYO 5, for a hile, as it combined both LED and Halogen for short & long lighting. This apparently will do it too. If you think of the usage levels required, a 20 boost is all you ever need.
I wonder what the Battery Life is like? 3 AAA batteries… same as Tikka.
Having just read the technical notice on the device. I was quiet shocked to see….

Haha, great, this is something new, something we havn’t seen before, and hopefully may revolutionise torch light. But, I wonder about something for moving around camp strapped onto your head at eye level, and having a warning on it, do not star into beam. Now, I’m always one for having my light in peoples faces, this could be an interesting point! It also says not suitable for children!
The LED appears to be focussed, and there is a lense that slides over for diffusing the beam for proximity lighting. Not sure about the heat it produces, it automatically turns the light down if it gets too hot. Or after 20s on Boost mode… and further reading says, “Do not immerse in water or hold under running water”… “Do not let water enter the lamp through ventilation holes under headpiece”! Gah.. I love being able to not worry about my zoom for water!
One very cool feature, is the ability when packing away to tilt the light up straight, and then the buttons are hidden so they can’t be pressed in your pack by a mistake.
The adjustable top strap looks quickly fitted for if you’re running or bouncing about, might be handy for helmet mounting aswell. I love the idea of a battery level indicator, thats cool.
All, in all, nice. I’m getting one I think!
It appears many arn’t selling it yet :-( just have to wait!
