Petzl Myo 5

Ok, so some of my ‘more into it’ have purchased a Petzl Myo 5, and I’m very impressed! It’s a Halogen Xenon Bulb coupled with a 5 LED source underneath. The torch switches form on to the other while twisting the lens as per normal on the Petzl Zoom. This also chooses between 3 LEDs, 5 LEDs, and then changes the focal distance of the halogen when it comes on. The system also has a reserve low-power mode once the battery has drained, giving you vital time with light to get out of a sticky situation.

I’ve heard the model may not be as waterproof as the older Zoom, but I can only hope it is up to bad rain (it MUST be!). Battery life is supposedly ~30hrs on 5 LED mode, and drops very little light until the battery takes a nosedive at the end and it dies :-)
