The Petzl ID for those of you who don’t know it is a fairly clever yoke now i must admit. Primarlily for rescue usage. It’s like a Suped Up Gri Gri!It’s nice an plasticy and dosn’t clank about, it’s got a catch so you can load it without taking it off the rope and it’s got teeth in it that grab the rope if you load it backwards so even a twit can use it. And finally, it’s a clutch system unlike the Gri Gri, where if you pull the handle to far (panick) then the rope is jammed and you have to pull the handle all the way up again. Oooh, and I forgot, it’ also locks steady for postitioned working.

One thing I can’t figure, why it’s not rated for two people!?

It’s like many parts of PPE (personal protective equipt.), in that it’s safe working load is generally the one person who owns it. For rescue or rigging though, it will handle a two hundred kilo load with elegant safety, (ie 2 people, or a tensioned line). A big shock load on it while carrying 200kg would probably see it explode into lots of little pieces though. I suppose at this point you are already in an bit of a pickle, and that size of shock load would probably cause critical failure somewhere else first, anyway.
